New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday detained Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Deoli Prakash Jarwal in connection with the suicide of a city-based doctor who had committed suicide last month. Jarwal was detained from his home in Delhi's Pushp Vihar.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, before getting detained, Jarwal said that he is the victim of a false FIR and the action being taken against him is unconstitutional.

"I have been falsely blamed and it's a political conspiracy against me. There is a continuous effort to trap me and my family while we have been fighting against tanker mafias for the last several years," added Jarwal.

The matter had first come to light on April 18 when a 52-year-old doctor was found hanging at his home in Durga Vihar.

In a suicide note he left behind, the doctor blamed MLA Jarwal of extortion that drove him to suicide. Police later found out that the deceased operated a clinic and was also involved in business with the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

It is to be noted that a court in Saket had issued a non-bailable warrant against the AAP leader Jarwal.
