New Delhi: BJP leader Kapil Mishra, who has been given a party ticket from Model Town for the upcoming Delhi state elections, on Friday accused the Aam Aadmi Party of discriminating against the Sikh community by not allotting them enough seats to contest on.

Mishra said the BJP will come to power with an absolute majority

Speaking to ETV Bharat after the BJP released its first list of 57 candidates, Mishra expressed happiness and thanked PM Modi and party president Amit Shah for entrusting upon him a "big responsibility."

He expressed confidence that the BJP would emerge victorious in the February 8 polls with an absolute majority, and he would fulfil his responsibility by winning from the Model Town constituency.

Responding to reports of members of the Sikh community being miffed over ticket allotment in the Aam Aadmi Party, Mishra, who himself had rebelled against AAP, said that the Kejriwal-led party was discriminating against Sikhs.

"AAP has cheated Sikhs. Jagdeep Singh, whose father was martyred during the 1984 riots, was snatched off of his ticket. Jarnail Singh, who threw a shoe at P Chidambaram over Sikh rights, has also been not given a ticket," he said.

"Non-Sikhs have been given tickets from Sikh seats. There are also talks of such tickets being sold. Delhi's Sikhs are observing this, and will teach Kejriwal a lesson," he added.

Earlier today, the BJP released its first list of candidates for the February 8 Delhi Assembly elections, comprising 57 names including senior leader Vijender Gupta who will fight from Rohini and AAP rebel Kapil Mishra from Model Town.
