New Delhi: At least six people died and 11 others sustained injuries after a fire broke out in a multi-storey building in Zakir Nagar here on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, official sources said.
The injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment, they added.
Eight fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. It was controlled soon after. Around 20 people were rescued from the spot. Around seven cars and eight motorcycles were also gutted in the fire.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced Rs 5 lakh financial compensation to the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh compensation to the kin of the injured , after he visited the site to take the stock of the situation.
