New Delhi: Four members of a family in South Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave’s B block were found to be COVID-19 positive on Thursday.

Accordingly, the block has been declared a 'containment zone' by the South District administration. With this, the number of ‘hotspots’ or zones from where positive cases have been reported, has gone up to 57 in the national capital.

“We have contained the area and 150-200 houses in that area have been delimited to check the spread of the disease. We have started door-to-door screening and accordingly we will administer the test. The containment would remain for 14 days and once the area is disease-free, we will remove the containment”, Dr BM Mishra, district magistrate (South Delhi) told ETV Bharat.

“Under the area that is declared a ‘containment zone’ includes the boundary that starts from B4/200 to B4/250, and it covers the entire locality till the backside of Humayunpur lane which also includes Ashiana Complex and B4/206”, he added.

The family members who tested COVID 19 positive are being shifted to the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, fresh cases have also been reported from three blocks of Police Colony, Model Town in North district.

The government is taking all precautionary measures to tackle the outbreak of coronavirus effectively and has classified the country’s districts into three zones—‘red’, ‘orange’ and ‘green’ zones based on the number of cases reported.

While nine new ‘containment zones’ were announced on Tuesday, four ‘red’ zones were announced on Monday besides the 10 new ‘red’ zones that were announced on Sunday.
