New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday said that as many as 100 personnel of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) died of the lethal virus and so far 25,418 have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
In total, 35 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died due to COVID-19 till September 10, followed by 23 in Border Security Force (BSF), 24 in Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), seven in Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), six in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and five personnel in Assam Rifles, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Nityanand Rai further added, "In addition to normal benefits available to a CRPF personnel, it has been decided that Rs 15 lakh will be given to the family of CRPF personnel through "Bharat Ke Veer" Funds, in case any personnel dies due to Covid-19 infection while being on Covid-19 related duties."
Notably, during the lockdown, maximum number of paramilitary forces got infected while performing law and order duties in the internal security and containment zones.The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Referral hospital in Greater Noida (UP), has so far treated over 1,150 coronavirus patients of CAPF personnel and their families.
