Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh): In a fresh incident of 'hit and drag' on Tuesday, a young man was hit by a car and dragged for 20 meters before being freed from under the vehicle. The victim fortunately escaped unhurt and the driver responsible for the accident was found to be in an inebriated condition. The driver, accompanied by a young girl who was also inebriated, only stopped the car after hitting an electric pole.
The incident took place near the old bus stand in the Tarbahar police station area. Witnesses reported that the victim was a pedestrian walking alongside the road when the car hit him. Despite passers-by shouting at the driver to halt the vehicle, the driver continued to drag the victim for some time before finally hitting the pole. The youth responsible for the accident were reportedly driving from Shiv Talkies Chowk.

After the car stopped, locals gathered around and assaulted the driver before handing him over to the police along with the girl. The identities of the driver and his companion could not be ascertained at the time of filing the report, as they were both heavily intoxicated and unable to answer questions.
This incident bears an eerie resemblance to the Kanjwala 'hit and drag' case, where a girl on a scooty was hit and dragged by a Maruti car for 12 kilometers in the early hours of New Year's Day. In another incident that took place on Sunday, a man was allegedly hit by a car and held onto the bonnet for two to three kilometers as the driver refused to stop until he was chased down by the police.
