Bastar: Six Maoists were gunned down by women commandos when the situation escalated during what seemed like an ordinary routine patrolling at Gonderas Village in Chhattisgarh.
In an encounter that took place in the forests of Sukma, Chhattisgarh, 6 Maoists were taken down by a team of commandos including woman wing member who were on patrolling duty for the first time.
"We are glad we could be of help to our brothers," said a female Commando.
'Today was the first time, now it will be repeated," said second female Commando.
In the encounter, Keralapal's LOS Commander and women Naxalite, Gangi, who had five lakh rupee reward on her capture.
The face-off took place around 5 am at a forest in Gonderas village when a joint team of the District Reserve Guard and the Special Task Force (STF) was out on an anti-Maoist operation, Deputy Inspector General, Anti-Naxal operations, Sundarraj P told.
Police have recovered the INSAS, 12-bore pipe bombs and other material from the spot. According to the information, the Maoists had camped in seven tents in the forests of Patelapara in Gondaras.
