Raipur: Amid rising death tolls due to kidney ailments at Supebeda village in Chhattisgarh, Health minister T S Singh Deo along with other government officials and AIIMS doctors held a press conference on October 21 where concerns related to the existing kidney conditions in the state were discussed.
The health minister informed on the quality of water in Supebeda village. Stating that it contains high fluoride content in it, Singh asserted that genetic problems and the unavailability of hygienic water as the reason behind prevailing health conditions.
Safe drinking water along with its awareness has been arranged, Singh said.
Singh told, "Treatment through effective medication is preferred before switching to dialysis. People suffering from kidney conditions are being given special care and help through mobile units are being administered to each resident of the village."
Singh reiterated that if the conditions grow worse, the state will seek Centre's help to deal with the crisis.
Serious kidney ailment killed two in Supebeda village of Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district over the last 15 days leaving the residents of the village in a state of complete shock.
The two deceased, identified as Purandhar Puraina and Akalu Musra, were suffering from a serious kidney condition for the past three and five years respectively.
While Puraina breathed his last on Sept 29, Musra died on Oct 15.
These two simultaneous incidents have left the village residents aghast, following which the Governor of the state has scheduled a visit to the village to take stock of the situation.
