Keshkal: Two months after an Adivasi girl committed suicide in Chhattisgarh's Keshkal after being gang-raped, her father tried to kill himself by eating poison on Sunday.

Speculations are rife that the victim's father had lost all hopes of getting justice as nothing seems to be done on the ground regarding the rape case or his daughter's suicide.

Victim's friend revealed details of the incident-

The victim's friend who was with her the night the incident happened said that she along with the victim had gone to attend a wedding in Kanagaon where they were dancing.

Just then seven men from Kanagaon and Phunder village forcefully took the victim from the wedding house towards the forest.

After several hours the victim returned to the house bloodied and told them that she was gang-raped.

Some of the men were also drunk and had circled the victim's friend too, but, she escaped.

The victim's friend added that the accused youths had threatened both of them that they would be killed if they informed the family about the incident and that's why they kept quiet and did not tell anyone in the house.

But after the incident, the matter spread throughout the marriage house.

Two days later the victim committed suicide under stress

Amaru Kavade, the uncle of the deceased girl told that all the family members were working in the field and her parents were also not at home and she was alone in the house with young children.

Around 2 in the afternoon the children came to the field and informed that the girl had hanged herself.

Immediately when we reached home and brought her down, she was still alive, but while we were arranging to take her to the hospital she died.

Since the girl's parents were out of the village, she was not cremated, and the body was buried at 11 am the next day in everyone's presence. It is then, we were told that she was gang-raped by some men of the village.

Dhanora police trying to suppress the case-

Amaru Kavade also said that a few days after the said incident, Ramesh Shorey, then in-charge of Dhanora police station had the family members to the police station and said that he had received information about both gang-rape and suicide and was registering an FIR.

We were told to be ready for legal action and to give testimony, for which we had no objection. But to date, no action has been taken against the accused involved in the said incident and all the accused are roaming freely.

The case has been buried completely.

Secrets tumble out after father's suicide attempt-

Suddenly due to some unknown reasons, on 4 October, the victim's father tried to commit suicide by consuming pesticides lying in the house but his life was saved due to the timely intervention at the hospital by relatives. But on the second day on October 5, the girl's father ran out of the hospital without informing anyone, taking a bottle of glucose.

When the father attempted suicide, the other family members grew suspicious, and then somehow new links were found related to the suicide committed by his daughter.

Victim's family is pleading for justice from the government-

The death of the daughter of a poor tribal family and the subsequent attempt by the father to commit suicide has embodied many mysteries in itself. For which, the uncle of the deceased woman and her friend has pleaded with the government through the media, giving full information about the incident, that action should be taken at the earliest to punish the culprits involved and to give justice to the family.

Now the question arises as to why the Dhanora police did not report such a big incident? Why action was not taken when the accused was caught in the police station? When will that dead girl get justice?

SDOP to investigate the matter

On Wednesday morning, talking to the subdivisional officer of Police Amit Patel on the phone, he said that the matter has been taken into consideration and further action will be taken only after the investigation is going to the village of Odagaon.
