Dantewada (Chhattisgarh): Security forces on Tuesday attacked a camp in Chhattisgarh where top Naxal commanders were present.
According to reports, the security forces acted on inputs about the presence of top Naxals in Chhattisgarh's Darbha division, following which they attacked the Naxal camp at around 5 am today morning.
Confirming the development, Dantewada Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Pallava said that information was received about the presence of top Naxals Chaitu, Vinod, and Deva at the camp, following which the DRG, STF, and state police forces set off for the spot on Monday evening itself.
As they initiated their action today morning, the Naxals opened fire and managed to escape into the jungles, the SP said.
According to reports, bloodstains were found at the spot of the gunfight. As many as 8-10 tents, explosives, AK-47 rounds, and Naxal literature were also recovered from the spot.
Pallava informed that the police is currently in pursuit of the Naxals. He added that the bloodstains indicate that several Naxals might have received bullet injuries.
