Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday began procurement of paddy at the minimum support price.
The farmers started queuing up to sell paddy at the procurement centres early morning on Tuesday.
Dhamtari
Paddy procurement started in Dhamtari after the weighing and worshipping of paddy. 89 centres have been built in the district. This time 1,11,000 farmers have registered 1,19,000 hectares. There is a target of purchasing 41 lakh quintals of paddy in the district this year. This time around 80 per cent small and marginal farmers have been given first tokens on priority basis in paddy purchase.
Surajpur
In Ramnagar, Surajpur, Congress spokesperson Ramakrishna Ojha did pooja and initiated the sale of paddy at the Paddy Purchase Center. This year, farmers are happy to see 9 new paddy procurement centres in the district. This time, the target is to buy 19 lakh quintals of paddy.
Gariaband
On the first day of paddy purchase, officers and employees were seen active in Gariaband district. They have been deployed on duty in different paddy procurement centres. Much strictness is being exercised regarding the maintenance and arrangements of paddy procurement centres.
Korea
Sarguja Development Authority Vice President and MLA Gulab Kamro, who arrived at the launch of Paddy Procurement Center in Korea, weighed the paddy of the farmers himself. Gulab Kamro launched the paddy procurement after reaching the Paddy Procurement Center in Bharatpur, Sonhat, Chainpur.

Bilaspur
Farmers in some paddy purchased centres were upset. Paddy procurement has started in all the paddy buying centres of Bilaspur amidst the chaos. The lifting of old paddy from all paddy collection centres including Mopka in the district has not been done yet. Due to which farmers are worried.

Paddy procurement could not start here till 12 noon. Farmers waited for hours for the political leader to arrive for the inauguration. This year, paddy harvest of about 15,000 farmers is to be purchased in the district.
Surguja
The software giving tokens to the farmers who are registered in Surguja remained closed on the very first day of paddy purchase. Farmers had to wait for long, but the committee started registering names in the register, as alternative arrangements. In the morning, when the computer was turned on to issue tokens in the paddy procurement centres, it was found that the limit of giving only tokens was only for 200 quintals of paddy in a 1-day asset in the software, so a complaint was made to the higher authorities. The maintenance of software was done after halting the work of issuing tokens.
The Chhattisgarh government has claimed to have made the historic purchase of paddy this time. This year the target of purchasing paddy has been set to be 90 lakh metric tonnes. Primary societies have been expanded. New purchasing centres have been created. Around 260 new paddy procurement centres have been opened in the state. Instructions have been given to keep special vigil in 33 procurement centres along the border of border districts.

* There is an increase of 3.32 million hectares in area and 6.32 lakh in the number of farmers selling paddy on MSP.
