PM Modi should take responsibility for Karnataka defeat: Baghel

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take responsibility for the BJP's defeat in Karnataka.

He expressed his views at an event organised by Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya in Raipur. CM Baghel has also targeted MP CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan. "The entire election was fought on the face of Modi ji and now Basavaraj Bommai is taking the responsibility of losing. After the defeat, Modi ji should take the responsibility," Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said.

Taking a jibe at the BJP, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that Bajrangbali stands for justice. "Bajrangbali has always been against tyranny. This happened in Karnataka and it is going to happen in case of other states in future as well. Bajrangbali is not with the Bharatiya Janata Party, we have got the blessings of Bajrangbali," Baghel said.

Baghel further took potshots at Chhattisgarh CM Shivraj Singh for his comment on Maoists, who, he said, are roaming in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. "Shivraj Singh roams less and speaks more. Because of the pressure exerted on the Naxalites and the pressure created by us, the Naxalites have moved towards Kanha," Bhupesh Baghel said.

It may be noted that The Bharatiya Janata Party's failure to return to power in Karnataka could have major implications for the saffron party’s southern push ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The setback is particularly significant given that Karnataka is the only state in southern India where the BJP has been in governance or held a dominant position.
