Kanker: A Naxalite Divisional Committee member was killed in a blast in Chhattisgarh when the device he was planting exploded, according to reports.
A week after the incident, the spokesperson of the Uttar Bastar Divisional Committee Sukhdev issued a press statement confirming the death of Naxalite Somji alias Sahadev Vedda in Amabeda area.
Sukhdev also issued a letter stating that on 18 February at 6:15 am there was an accident in which DVC member Somji alias Sahadev Vedda, a resident of Kanari died.
The statement made it clear that the Naxalites were planting explosive devices.

The rebel was blown to bits in the incident and several other guerrillas were also injured.
The Naxalites put up banners and posters in the area hailing the death of their colleague as a martyr.
