Korba: Seven more people on Thursday tested positive for coronavirus in Chhattisgarh's Katghora, taking the total number of virus cases in the state to 18.
About 9 out of 10 coronavirus positive patients in Korba district are related to a mosque in which 16 Tablighi Jamaat members were staying in Katghora. With this, Katghora has become the first and the only coronavirus hotspot in the state.
These seven patients are referred to Raipur AIIMS for there coronavirus treatment.
Earlier, it was said that a total of 8 corona positive patients have been found in the Purani Basti, in Korba.
Meanwhile, the administration said that there are seven coronavirus positive patients until Thursday afternoon.
More than 50 jamaat members who came back from areas like Nizamuddin or other states like Maharashtra, Jharkhand have been kept at a quarantine centre in Deepka.
Around 3000 people in the district are either in quarantine or in-home isolation and 176 people have been tested till now.
Earlier, a young man who returned from London was tested as coronavirus positive patient.
The 9 patients who were declared positive had connections with Markaz.

- With 7 new infected cases being discovered the number of cases in the district has reached 10
- The patients are of age 22-73 years
- Out of 10 infected cases, 8 are men and 2 are women
- More than 3000 people in the district are in quarantine centres or in-home isolation
- Deepka Testing Centre and Russian Hospital Korba have been turned into quarantine centres
- Out of the 176 samples sent from Korba 10 have been found positive
- 9 positive cases found in Katghora alone
- 13 family members of the coronavirus positive patient have been shifted to the Russian hospital
- Relatives of positive patients are believed to be coronavirus suspects
Meanwhile, a young man of the Ramsagar para area has recovered and has been sent back home after being declared healthy.
