Raipur: Amid contention within Chhattisgarh Congress, Health Minister T S Singh Deo said the decision on leadership change in the state party will be taken by the Congress high command. Deo made the announcement while briefing media after his visit to Delhi on Saturday.

"I met Rahul Gandhi. Discussions have been held with the high command wholeheartedly. The final decision is reserved with the high command," said Singh Deo. He also added that whatever be the decision, it will be accepted.

When asked about MLA Brihaspati Singh's statement that the Maharaja of Surguja would not act like the Maharaja of Gwalior, Singhdeo said that he would not follow the footsteps of Scindia at all. Singh Deo returned to Chhattisgarh later in the evening after spending a major part of the month in Delhi.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel who visited Delhi on Saturday also held a discussion with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and others and returned to Raipur.

In Raipur, CM Bhupesh said that all issues have been discussed with Rahul Gandhi in Delhi. He also said that Rahul Gandhi was invited to Chhattisgarh and he accepted it. Rahul Gandhi will come to Chhattisgarh and visit Bastar next week, he said.

Over 40 MLAs and some ministers who support Baghel had reached Delhi on Thursday and Friday. They met All India Congress Committee general secretary K C Venugopal. Baghel on Wednesday had said that those talking about "two and a half years" (power-sharing formula) were trying to bring political instability in the state and they would never succeed in it.

A feud within the party emerged after Deo reportedly sought leadership change citing an agreement whereby he was supposed to assume office as chief minister after Baghel's two-and-a-half-year in office. In June 2021, Baghel completed two-and-a-half years in office.
