The police have arrested a former officer on the charges of duping people to the tune of Rs 20 crore on the pretext of offering jobs. Although the mastermind and main accused Ashok Pandey is still at large.

Baloda Bazar: The Chhattisgarh police on Tuesday arrested a former woman and child development officer for allegedly duping over 200 people of Rs 20 crore on the pretext of offering jobs.

As per the information, Mewa Chopra, who was absconding for the last five months, arrested from her home at Baloda Bazar area.

An FIR was lodged against Chopra and five of her associates for duping people on the pretext of providing jobs in police as well as women and child development department, said the police.

Two persons related to the case were arrested in the month of November whereas the mastermind and main accused Ashok Pandey is still at large, added the police.
