ETV Bharat Impact: People come forward to donate blood in Chhattisgarh's hospital

The district hospital in Chhattisgarh's Mahasamund district was reeling under a huge blood shortage amid lockdown. Noticing the issue, ETV Bharat appealed people to donate the blood at this time of crisis. The appeal made an impact and around 80 people donated blood within two days.

Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh): Amid coronavirus pandemic and nationwide lockdown, many hospitals in the country are facing a drastic shortage of blood supplies for needy patients.

The district hospital in Chhattisgarh's Mahasamund district was also reeling under a huge blood shortage.

Only 195 people donated the blood since March 22, said an official of the hospital

Noticing the issue, ETV Bharat appealed people to donate the blood at this time of crisis. The appeal made an impact and around 80 people donated blood within two days.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, one of the donors said that amid lockdown it is forbidden to leave home unnecessarily but she thought it necessary to donate blood so she came to the hospital.

It is to be noted that the district has only one blood bank which started in the year 2006 and it has only four staff.
