Eight dedicated COVID-19 hospitals ready to treat patients in Chhattisgarh

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel chaired a high-level meeting with his cabinet colleagues, officials and directed the steps taken to prevent the spread of the pandemic. For this, he has announced eight dedicated hospitals for COVID-19 patients.

Raipur: In a measure meant to prepare the health care system in the state for a surge in COVID infections, the Chhattisgarh government has announced eight dedicated hospitals for COVID-19 patients.

According to sources, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel chaired a high-level meeting with his cabinet colleagues, officials and directed the steps to be taken to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

While reiterating that the Government is ready to provide best possible healthcare to Covid-19 patients in the dedicated hospitals, the Chief Minister, however, insisted that people of the state can win the fight against the deadly infection through social distancing, hand washing and strictly adhering to the lockdown, sources said.

"Covid-19 patients will be treated in eight hospitals at the regional level in Chhattisgarh. As many as 1750 beds are fixed for this and at the same time arrangements have been made for the treatment of Covid-19 at the district level in 22 districts. At the district level, 1586 beds have been arranged for the patients," a government official said.

"The government has prepared a total of 3336 beds to deal with Covid-19, out of which 2814 are general beds and 522 are ICU beds. Although the number of ICU beds can be increased as per the requirement in the future. At present, no patients of Corona have admitted in ICU," the official said.

"So far, most of the patients have been treated in Raipur AIIMS in the state. Apart from this, a 500-bed corona hospital has also been set up in Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Hospital (Mekahara) in Raipur. A 100-bed COVID Hospital has also been built in Mana Hospital," official added.

"Testing is being done by the Health Department in 5 places in the state. There are three labs in Raipur, AIIMS Lab in Raipur, Medical College Hospital Raipur, IRL Lab. In addition, labs of Jagdalpur Medical College which are accredited with ICMR, are also conducting tests there. In addition, Covid-19 testing is also being done in Raigarh," the official further added.
