Cop finds sister during anti-Naxal operation in Sukma

There was a face-off between a policeman and his sister, a Maoist, during a gunfight in the jungles of Balengtong in Sukma. The reunion turned worse when some of the Maoist opened fire on security forces resulting in a gun fight.

Sukma: A team of 140 District Reserve Guard (DRG) security personnel reportedly cordoned off a Maoist camp in the jungles of Balengtong on 29 June, during which a policeman found out his sister is among the Maoist ranks.

During the search operation, Bhetirama, the policeman had a face-off with his sister Kanni, who sided with the Maoist. The reunion soon turned worse when some of the Maoist opened fire on security forces resulting in a gun fight.

According to reports, two Naxals were killed by the security personnel during the gunfight and Kanni managed to escape.

Besides, the police reports show that the brother-sister duo were earlier part of the Maoist group in the region until Bhetirama decided to quit the organisation and join the DRG designated for counter-insurgency operations in Maoist-hit states.
