Complete lockdown in Chhattisgarh's Raipur from April 9-19

Amid a spike in the COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh's Raipur, district collector S Bharathi Dasan has announced a complete lockdown from April 9 to 19. The lockdown restrictions will be effective from 6 pm onward on April 9.

Raipur: To curb the spread of COVID-19, a complete lockdown in Chhattisgarh's Raipur will be imposed from April 9 to 19. The lockdown restrictions will be effective from 6 pm onward on April 9.

"All the borders of the district will remain sealed and all shops, including those selling liquor and commercial establishments, will remain closed, essential services will remain functional during the lockdown " Raipur district collector S Bharathi Dasan announced on Wednesday.

The decision came after 2,821 cases came up in Raipur on April 6 which is the highest spike in the cases in a day.

On Tuesday, 26 people lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the district in 24 hours, with this the total toll has risen to 1001 in the district so far.

Raipur has become the first capital across the nation to impose complete lockdown in the second wave of COVID pandemic and the second district in the state after Durg.

Raipur (13,107) and Durg ( 14,245) districts alone have the highest number of corona active cases in the state. As on Tuesday 52,445 active cases have been reported in the state.

The state recorded 9,921 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the caseload to 3,86,269. With 53 more deaths caused due to viral infection and co-morbidities, the statewide toll mounted to 4,416. So far, 3 lakh 29 thousand 408 people have been cured.
