Chhattisgarh's Ayodhya connection: Meet the kar sevak who was shot during Ram temple movement

Ges Ram Chauhan, the only kar sevak in Korba who was shot in his stomach during the Ram temple movement in 1992 is invited to the temple foundation laying ceremony.

Korba: The much-awaited dream of Ram temple in Ayodhya is going to be a reality soon and one of the unique stories related to Ram bhakts and the kar sevaks is related to Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

Ges Ram Chauhan, the only kar sevak in Korba who was shot in his stomach during the Ram temple movement in 1992 is also invited to the foundation laying ceremony of the temple.

When Chauhan received the invitation to the ceremony, he became so overwhelmed that he cried for five minutes.

District RSS chief officer, Kishore Butolia also corroborates the claim that Ges Ram is the only kar sevak of Chhattisgarh who was shot at during the protest.

Along with Chauhan, Judwan Singh Thakur, Kishore Butolia, Rajendra Aggarwal and others were also present at the protest. At present, all these people are BJP leaders.

However, nonagenarian Chauhan is surviving by begging.

Since the last few days, he has been living in the home service ashram run by the Chhattisgarh Help Welfare Society for the destitute.

Due to his old age, he does not speak much, but whenever asked about the Ram temple, only chants 'Jai Sri Ram' and cries.

A batch of five to seven kar sevaks and RSS officials along with Chauhan from the district will leave for Ayodhya tomorrow with the soil of Devpahari.
