Durg: A state rank holder in Class X Board examination and top district rank holder, Sania Markam met with her father Balram Markam after a gap of three years, with the help of Durg Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Pallav who got to know about the girl's longing to meet her father.
Sania Markam who hails from Chhattisgarh's Durg district secured seventh rank in Chhattisgarh Class 10 Board exam. When the SP Abhishek Pallav visited Sania's house and congratulated her, the police official wanted to know if he could do something which she has been wanting to do. Sania's father who is implicated in a murder case has been incarcerated in Durg jail and she revealed to the SP about her desire to meet Balram who was a scrap vendor.
Abhishek spoke to the Jail administration regarding the request from the girl and sought their assistance regarding Sania's request. The necessary procedural arrangements were made by the SP. On Thursday, he took her to the prison where she met her father and shared with him the happiness of her achievement in board examinations.
She became emotional after seeing her father while she was accompanied by the SP during the meet. Family said, she was meeting Balram after three years. It was a teary reunion of father and daughter. Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sania said her father became emotional when he saw her. "We met after three years. My father used to sell scraps to meet my educational expenses. When I secured the seventh rank in the Board exam, I recalled my father. I became desperate to meet him because what I achieved became possible only through my father's efforts and teachings. I appealed to the SP to arrange a meeting with my father. I am thankful to SP for arranging the meet."
Abhishek promised to take steps to fast track the trial of the pending murder case against Balram. "Sania's father has been in jail facing a murder case. What I saw in the family was that one was involved in a crime while the other was so studious. Balram reportedly was involved in the murder case in which a minor boy was allegedly killed in a family-related dispute, He was not directly involved in the murder case. We will take steps to speed up the trial in the connected case."
