The deceased Keshav Mishra, accompanied by his wife and two sons were supposed to reach a hospital in Bilaspur for a regular checkup. Meanwhile, his health deteriorated on the way to the hospital.

When they were crossing the Ghutri Tola border here, some police personnel asked to stop the car and did not allow the family to proceed their further journey.

According to Rakesh Mishra, son of the deceased, he had requested the police personnel several times. His father also urged the police to allow him on medical grounds but in vain.

"My mother, father and my brother requested the police personnel for almost an hour. My father noticed this and finally left for heavenly abode. Had they allowed us, my father's life could have been saved," Rakesh told ETV Bharat.

When ETV Bharat asked the Manedragarh Additional Sub Divisional Magistrate R P Chouhan, he denied the allegations made by the deceased family.

"I have investigated the case. They were allowed to travel to the hospital. The death of Keshav Mishra was due to a heart attack. I have ordered the cremation of the deceased as soon as possible amid COVID-19," said ASDM.
