Chhattisgarh: Naxal couple surrenders in Bijapur

On the occasion of World Tribal Day, the Red Terror has suffered a setback as Naxal couple Raju Karam and Sunita Karam, who worked for Odisha and Telangana State Bureau of Naxalites, have surrendered. A reward of Rs 8 lakh each was announced on both earlier.

Bijapur (Chhattisgarh): On the occasion of World Tribal Day, the Naxalite couple has vowed to leave the red terror and join the mainstream society. In Bijapur, Naxalite Commander Raju Karam, along with his wife Sunita Karam, laid down arms and announced to move away from Naxalite ideology. Both have surrendered in front of the Bijapur police team. A reward of Rs 8 lakhs each was announced on the naxal couple.

Both of them worked for Odisha and Telangana State Bureau of Naxalites. Naxalite Raju, who surrendered on this occasion, said that there has been a change in ideology of the Naxalites. They are adopting a hollow ideology, so we left them. Both the Naxalites said that they are very much influenced by the rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government. That's why they have taken this step.

Bijapur SP Kamlochan Kashyap said that Raju Karam and Sunita Karam had taken over the responsibility of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bodh, Nayagarh divisions under the Odisha State Committee for Naxalites. Apart from this, Raju also worked as the Central Regional Bureau CC Protection Group Commander in the Telangana State Committee.

Both the Naxalites have surrendered in front of CRPF's DIG Komal Singh, SP Bijapur Kamlochan Kashyap, CRPF 85 Battalion Commander Yadvendra Singh Yadav.
