New Delhi: India's health sector has witnessed an upward trend ever since the Narendra Modi government assumes charge at the Centre, but a lot more needs to be done, said a health industry expert. He added that Centre's Ayushman Bharat policy was a remarkable milestone.
The scheme aims at making interventions in primary and secondary health care system. The policy is tagged as world's largest health assurance scheme.
"There was an intention on the part of the government to do something in the healthcare sector. Ayushman Bharat is a revolutionary step. But this health sector has a long way to go," said Amit Bhatnagar, expert in country's heath industry.

Bhatnagar said that lots need to be done in medical devise regulations and innovations in healthcare setup. "However, there was a very extensive support system for start-ups in the health care domain," said Bhatnagar. In fact, in governmentof India's start up policy emphasise has been given on wellness and healthcare.
Bhatnagar, however, said that governmentshould have more expertise in the medical devise regulations policy. "India can play a vital role and even lead the space of innovations in medical devise in the world," Bhatnagar who runs a start up said.
In establishing AIIMS like institute across India, the Centre has also taken significant steps. Initiatives have been taken for establishment of new medical colleges attached with existing district and referral hospitals. The Centre has taken decision to setup 82 new medical colleges in two phases.
To establish new medical colleges Centre has already released 8,175.1 crore of rupees.
