Araria (Bihar): Fatima who sat on the hot seat of KBC in 2014, will be awarded on Friday as part of Women's Day celebrations in Lucknow as she rescued more thanhundredgirls from prostitution. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be felicitating this Bihar's Mardani.
Interestingly, 'reel' Mardani Rani Mukherjee accompanied Fatima during the popular KBC show in 2014 and since then she was rewarded with many prizes.
Fatima, at an age of 9 was married to Shoaib (35), in the Red Light area of the Forbesganj area of Araria district. She was sold by her parents for few pennies in Araria district of Bihar.
Araria is just 55 kilometers away from Nepal.
Fatima, after facing a tough time with her in-laws, decided to help girls who are getting trapped into prostitution. she with the help of an NGO rescued over a hundred girls and the NGO has given free education on sewing, embroidery along with computer courses to make girls self-reliant.
"On the occasion of Women's Day, I request every Indian to cooperate and make the girls self-dependent," said Fatima.
