Violence erupts during Saraswati idol immersion procession in Patna

Clashes broke out between two groups during the Saraswati idol immersion procession in Patna. The students of Patna College and the people of Lalbagh allegedly pelted stones on each other.

Patna: Violence broke out during a Saraswati idol immersion procession at Ashok Rajpath here on Friday.

District Magistrate MK Ravi said that the situation is under control now.

"Stone-pelting incidents took place in the area. We are monitoring the situation. It is under control now. CCTV footage will be examined to identify the accused," he said.

Meanwhile, Saraswati Puja was celebrated with great fervour all over Bihar on the day of Vasant Panchami.

While a large number of households perform Saraswati Puja at home, the rituals are also held at educational institutions, libraries and clubs across the state.
