Katihar: Taking everyone by surprise, more than Rs 960 crores were credited into the accounts of the two students studying in Class VI in government school, has left the students and bank officials baffled on Thursday.
Guru Charan Vishwas, who is having an account in North Bihar Gramin Bank has received more than Rs 905 crores, while Ashish's account in the same bank has been credited with Rs 60 crore plus amounts.
"We have frozen the accounts of the two students and have stopped their withdrawals after getting to know about the issue. The senior officials of the bank are being informed," Bank Manager Manoj Gupta stated.
"Huge amounts were deposited in the accounts of two children. The amount can be seen in the mini statement," Udayan Mishra, District Magistrate, Katihar, said.
Meanwhile, MK Madhukar, LDM, Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank said, “As soon as we came to know about money being deposited in the accounts of two students, we have frozen the accounts. Later, we enquired with their parents but they had no clue about the fund transfer. Now, we are investigating thoroughly to find out who the sender could be."
Actually, the students came to know about the amount when they went to the local customer service point (CSP) to know about the amount credited for school dress by the state government under the Chief Minister's scheme. After checking the balance several times, which reflected huge amounts, they informed others in the village.
Earlier, a person named Ranjit Das residence of Khagaria district had also received Rs 5.5 lakhs in his Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank account. Later, the bank officials filed an FIR against Das after he showed reluctance to return the amount. He was arrested by the Khagaria police and now he is lodged in jail.
