Bodh Gaya: In a bid to support India's mass vaccination program, a social organisation in Bihar's Bodh Gaya district has taken a unique initiative to distribute free ration to vaccinated people. This initiative was taken by the Siddhartha Compassion Trust (SCT) after it found that a large number of locals are still disinterested in vaccination. So far this organisation has distributed ration among more than two thousand people.
Speaking to ETV Bharat , Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Bodh Gaya, said that a team of SCT came to his village and spread awareness about the vaccine among people. They also did online registration of people and then distributed free ration for a week among 50 people. "This initiative by the organisation has made a very good impact in the rural area and people are showing interest in taking the vaccine," he added.
Meanwhile, organisation's secretary Vivek Kalyan said, "As vaccine is the biggest weapon against Covid-19, our team used to go from village to village to make people aware about vaccination but not many people looked interested. Then we thought to provide free ration to those who take jabs and this yielded a good result. Every day around 200 people take ration from our organization."
