Nalanda (Bihar): Seven people were arrested on Saturday from Islampur area of Bihar's Nalanda district on charges of vandalising a Primary Health Care centre (PHC) after a newborn baby was allegedly stolen from the health facility on Friday night.
The CCTV footage from the PHC shows a woman lifting the newborn baby belonging to one Amna Khatun, a resident of Borisarai. Following the disappearance of the baby enraged relatives and fellow villagers gathered outside the health care centre and resorted to vandalism.
The furious mob burnt tyres vandalized the hospital and also caused damage to police vehicles and ambulances.
Hospital staff had, reportedly, locked themselves inside the building in order to save themselves from the angry crowd.
Police resorted to lathi-charge and fired several rounds in the air to control the crowd. Islampur Police station SHO Sharad Ranjan, as well as four other policemen, sustained injuries. An FIR has been registered against the seven arrested.

The newborn was eventually recovered by the police. A case has been registered against the child-lifter and has been arrested by the police.
