Purnia: A candidate of Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) from Dhamdaha assembly constituency was attacked on Saturday night when he was on the way to attend a public rally in Bihar's Purnea district.
According to RLSP candidate, Upendra Kushwaha, he was on the way to attend a political rally when he perceived that two vehicles were chasing his car.
Instead of attending the rally, he asked the driver to turn the car on the party office road. When he reached the office, two bullets were fired on him but had a narrow escape.
When ETV Bharat asked about the reason of the attack, he said, "Since I have been attending the public rallies for the last one month, my opponents have sniffed my victory in the upcoming elections. Therefore, they targeted me."
He further stated that a complained against two unidentified people were filed in the Dhamdaha police station and they assured him of providing proper security.
Elections for 243 Assembly seats are being held in three phases. Polling for 71 seats took place on October 28. Voting for 94 seats will be held on November 3 and the remaining 78 seats on November 7. The results will be announced on November 10.
