Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has recovered after a successful kidney transplant, would return to Patna today, party sources said.
The RJD supremo is moving from Delhi to Patna after his doctors gave him a green signal on his health status. He would reach Patna airport at 3 pm. Speculations are rife about Lalu's plan to pull the plugs to make his son Tejaswi Yadav the next Chief Minister of Bihar. Nitish Kumar has also expressed his wish to meddle in 'Delhi politics' by handing over the helm to Tejashwi Yadav. At the same time, Nitish is also apprehensive of relinquishing the position to Tejashwi fearing such a move can backfire and give the opposition an opportunity to stage a comeback.

Despite Lalu's absence, the veteran politician kept his eyes and ears open to political happenings in Bihar. Whenever Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would go to Delhi during the tenure of Grand Alliance-2, he used to meet Lalu Yadav for his guidance. Even before the 'Opposition's solidarity meeting', Nitish had met Lalu Yadav at Misa Bharti's residence.
Yadav closely monitored every activity of the party remotely from Misa's residence in Delhi. The cabinet expansion was withheld due to Lalu's absence. For now, the safety of health remains a worry for Lalu.
Family sources said doctors have advised extra care for him given the status of his kidney. They have sounded a caution for the coming six months soon after the transplant.
