Patna: Preparations are in full swing to hold Bihar Assembly elections amid the coronavirus pandemic with political parties becoming active and opposition targeting the state government over loop-holes in administration.
The ruling Janta Dal (United) government under National Democratic Alliance is engaged in launching schemes before the implementation of the Code of Conduct with Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government giving gifts in the form of welfare policies.
Election Commission team was on a two-day visit to Bihar to review the election preparedness. The high-level team of the Commission led by Deputy Election Commissioners Sudeep Jain and Chandra Bhushan Kumar reached Bhagalpur on the second day.
The team held a meeting with all the officials including Election Officers and District Magistrates of Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Jamui, Khagaria, Begusarai, Purnia, Araria, Kishanganj and Katihar.
The team will be preparing the report after reviewing the election preparations following which the election dates will be announced.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of seven projects worth Rs 543.28 crore in Bihar through video conferencing. These projects are related to the Namami Gange and Amarut Yojana of the Center. It also included Beur and Karmalichak Sewer Treatment Plant project apart from development projects for Siwan and Chapra.
Many ministers and officials of Bihar cabinet, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, were present on the occasion.
After Patna, Darbhanga will be getting a new AIIMS hospital with a capacity of 750 beds, after it got approval in the meeting of Modi cabinet on Tuesday.
The Cabinet has sanctioned Rs 1 thousand 361 crores for its construction.
Earlier, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri visited Vidyapati Airport in Darbhanga and announced that it will start functioning from Chhath this year, ending the long-wait of Mithila residents.
Experts believe that NDA government has gifted AIIMS hospital and Vidyapati Airport to get Mithilanchal vote bank which consists of 24 districts and about 114 assembly constituencies.
However, after the death of former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, the fight has intensified regarding his last letter. Recently, Hindustan Awam Morcha released a poster targeting RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav.
On the other hand, Congress party on Tuesday organised 'Bihar Revolution Mass Conference' in Vaishali district ahead of Bihar Assembly polls. The virtual rally was attended by top Congress leaders targeting the ruling JD(U) government. Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, Haryana Congress in-charge Vivek Bansal and Bihar Congress Screening Committee member Kazi Nizamuddin addressed the worker.
Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has been constantly targeting the Bihar government over unemployment following which he released the data of his ‘Berozgari Hatao’ website through a tweet. Tejashwi informed that in nine days five lakh youths of Bihar have uploaded resumes on this website. More than 10 lakh missed calls have been received on the toll-free number issued.
"This is enough to tell the government how much unemployment is rampant in the state of Bihar," he stated.
