PM Modi praises Madhubani's 'Suket Model' in 'Mann ki Baat'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 'Mann ki Baat' program on Sunday, praised the 'Sukhet Model' of Madhubani in Bihar. He called it a big step towards making every village self-reliant in the country. The PM said that all panchayats should learn from this. This model became an example in the matter of promoting cleanliness in the village.

Madhubani (Bihar): Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 'Mann ki Baat' program on Sunday, praised the 'Sukhet Model' of Madhubani in Bihar. He called it a big step towards making every village self-reliant in the country. The PM said that all panchayats should learn from this. This model became an example in the matter of promoting cleanliness in the village.

Under the leadership of Dr Ramesh Chandra Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, 'Garbage Se Kanchan Yojana' is being run in Sukhet Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Jhanjharpur block of Madhubani district. The 'Sukhet Model' is a unique plan of Dr Ramesh Chandra Srivastava. Now it is being expanded to other villages also. Started on 4 February 2021 at Sukhet in the Madhubani district. That is why it was named the 'Sukhet Model'.

Under this project, garbage and cow dung are collected from village houses and then converted into vermicompost. 20 kg of cow dung and garbage is taken daily from a family. From the income earned from selling vermicompost, every family is given money for one cylinder of LPG gas every 2 months in lieu of waste and cow dung. So far, 44 families of the village have been linked to this scheme.

The women of the village are very happy with the scheme. They said it is a very good plan. They said that now LPG is available for cooking and the smoke is less from burning cow dung cakes. The people of the village are feeling proud due to the appreciation received from the Prime Minister.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 'Mann Ki Baat' program on Sunday praised the 'Sukhet model' of Madhubani in Bihar. Narendra Modi said, 'Friends, an example has come before me from Madhubani in Bihar. Dr Rajendra Prasad Agricultural University in Madhubani and the local Krishi Vigyan Kendra have made a good effort together. Farmers are getting the benefit of this, it is also giving new strength to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The name of this initiative of the university is 'Sukhet Model'. Its purpose is to reduce pollution in the villages.

PM Modi added, "Under this model, cow dung from the farmers of the village and the waste from the fields and houses is collected. In return, the villagers are given money for cooking gas cylinders. Work is also being done to make vermicompost for the disposal of the garbage which is collected from the village. There are four benefits of the Sukhet model which are directly visible. One is freedom from pollution, second, the village is freed from garbage, third, the villagers get money for LPG cylinder and fourth, organic fertilizers to the farmers of the village. You think, how much such efforts can increase the power of our villages. This is a matter of self-reliance. I will tell every panchayat in the country that they must also think about doing something like this."
