Patna (Bihar): Panic ensued in the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Friday after the family members of a COVID-19 victim reportedly left her body at the superintendent's chamber.
According to reports, a 65-year-old COVID-positive patient died at the hospital, following which her family members accused hospital authorities of showing negligence in her treatment.
The woman, who was a resident of Jehanabad, was admitted to PMCH owing to some heart complications and other ailments.
However, after she died, her family members accused the authorities of negligence and alleged that the deceased's COVID-19 report arrived only after her death.
The enraged family members of the deceased then brought the body to the superintendent's chamber and left it there.
After it came to light that the deceased was COVID-19 positive, the superintendent reportedly fled from his chamber. The body remained untouched inside the superintendent's chamber for hours together, and all hospital staff members were in a state of panic.
Finally after much delay, a team from the health department arrived at the scene and took the body away for disposal.
