Katihar (Bihar): The District administration on Sunday seized 226 oxygen cylinders from Bihar's Katihar Railway Station amid a rise in coronavirus cases in the state.
Acting on a tip-off, a team headed by Katihar DM Udayan Mishra, the raid was carried out in the Lokmanya Tilak Express train at Katihar Railway Station and oxygen cylinders were seized.
"The raid netted 226 cylinders, all were oxygen-filled. The district administration will consider invoking the stringent National Security Act in this case," said Shankar Sharan Omi, SDM, Katihar Sadar.
"All seized oxygen cylinders are of 6 kg and no arrests have been made as of now. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Further investigation is underway," he added.
These oxygen cylinders could save precious lives. Besides the cylinders, police also recovered many regulators fitted with pressure gauges and flow metres for use in these cylinders.
