Onions thrown at Nitish Kumar at Madhubani rally

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was on Tuesday attacked with stones and onions while campaigning for Harlakhi assembly seat in Bihar's Madhubani. While one onion misses him completely, the other landed at the stage, a video clip of the incident shows.

Madhubani (Bihar): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was on Tuesday attacked with stones and onions while campaigning for Harlakhi assembly seat in Bihar's Madhubani. The Chief Minister was addressing on the dais when someone from the crowd hurled stones and onions towards him. While one onion missed him, the other landed at the stage, a video clip of the incident shows.

Mocking at the stone pelter, he said, "Rehne do...chor do...Fekne do....fekne do. Dhyan mat do.. inko malum ho jayega ki kitna rojgar ane wala hai (Leave them.. let them hurl stones.. soon, they will realise that how many employment opportunities would be generated by opposition."

Kumar said these lines in the context of RJD's Tejashwi Yadav's claim of providing 10 lakhs job opportunities in Bihar if 'Mahagathbandhan' came to power.

According to reports, people and the security personnel caught the man and took him away from the public meeting.

Bihar recorded a voter turnout of 44.07 per cent till 3 pm in the second phase of state Assembly elections on Tuesday. Polling began at 7 am on 94 assembly seats across 17 districts in the second phase of Bihar polls on Tuesday with precautionary measures against COVID-19 in place.

Voting in the third phase will take place on November 7 and the results will be declared on November 10.
