India has been a world leader in its digital literacy, the Kaimur village exhibits a completely different picture.
The village barely 65 km away from Babua district headquarter has a population of about five thousand.
The village is located about two kilometers away from the main road and there’s no approach road for vehicles to cover this distance. The villagers are compelled to hoof up on the main road every day. There’s no clean water, no electricity.
Let alone digital connectivity people here live in the absence of roads, water, and other basic amenities. The villagers say that they have somehow managed to buy a mobile phone with their hard earned money but they have to climb a tree in search of the mobile network.
Even after 71 years of Independence, the ambulance has not reached the village. In case of any medical emergency, the locals have no option but to tie the patients on bamboo sticks and carry them on their shoulders for eight kilometers to reach the hospital.
There is one well in the village as a lone source of water. In summers, the villagers have to walk three to four kilometers to fetch water.
