'Makeshift hospital' in van amid mounting virus fear in Bihar

Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, health workers at Gardanibagh area in Bihar's Patna started checking patients sitting in the van itself. The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 208 in the state and the number of coronavirus cases climbed to 31,500.

Patna (Bihar): The coronavirus pandemic has forced people across occupations to take all necessary precautions in order to survive. Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, health workers at Gardanibagh area in Patna started checking patients sitting in the van itself.

According to sources, a corona suspect had died at the Gardanibagh hospital on Wednesday night which created a sense of fear among health workers of the hospital.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Dr Amita Singh said, "A 70-year-old man died yesterday in the hospital. Although he was not tested for COVID-19 but he was a suspect. The hospital has not been sanitised after his death which has created a sense of fear in the health workers that's why we are operating the hospital sitting here in the cab."

According to the state health department, the death toll has crossed 208. With cases increasing every day in the state and COIVD designated hospitals facing a shortage of beds, many patients with mild symptoms are being advised to self-isolate at home.
