New Delhi: Whether the Congress contests the upcoming Bihar assembly elections solo or remains a part of the 'Mahagathbandhan' (grand alliance) will be known soon, Congress' Bihar unit chief Madan Mohan Jha said.
"The decision in this regard would be taken soon," he said.
He, however, said that the Congress hopes to get the number of seats that it desires and would contest as part of the Mahagathbandhan.
The Congress leader also said the party has decided on who would contest from which assembly seat in its screening committee meeting, held here on Wednesday.
Jha said the selected names have been sent to the party's central leadership.
Meanwhile, many political parties have deserted the Mahagathbandhan over a period of time and there has been a tussle chiefly between the Congress and the RJD over the issue of seat-sharing.
In Congress, certain leaders feel that in case their party does not get the desired number of seats to contest from, it should leave the alliance and contest the polls all alone.
