Gaya OTA passing out parade was a low-key affair, 17 cadets passed out

OTA Gaya conducted 17th passing out parade where 17 officers passed out on Saturday. Cadet Vipul Sinha hailing from Karimganj in Assam, who performed well during training, was awarded with a silver medal.

Gaya: In the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, unlike the previous 16 passing out parades (PoP) organised by the Gaya Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), there was no multi-activity display at the 17th PoP held on Saturday. 17 officers joined the Army from the OTA in the presence of their guardian.

On all previous occasions, a fascinating and adventurous multi-activity display showcasing physical fitness and military skills of the future Army officers used to be held a day ahead of the PoP.

Cadets Vipul Sinha hails from Karimganj in Assam, who performed well during training, was awarded with silver medal. He said, "all the credit for our success goes to our parents and training officers only because of them that we have achieved all this."

He said that the youth should always be ready to serve the country. It is not necessary that one can serve the country only by wearing a uniform. The country can also be served without uniform.

Lt Gen Sunil Srivastava, Gaya OTA commandant said, “altogether 81 other trainees of the Gaya OTA, who, after completing the year-long basic military training obtained degrees in Military Engineering from the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, Secunderabad, Military College of Telecommunication Engineering Mhow and College of Military Engineering, Pune, will be inducted at their respective institutes. Five cadets from Bhutan have also been trained by Gaya OTA.”

The Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Saturday morning held the Passing out Parade (PoP) for the 146 Regular Course and 129 Technical Graduate Course. 423 officers took part in the parade including 90 Gentleman Cadets from nine friendly foreign countries. Parents were not allowed to attend the ceremony this year due to the rising number in Coronavirus cases.
