Patna: Four people from a family including two women and a child were killed when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding private bus at Beldarichak under Gourichak police limits in Bihar's Patna on Sunday.
The identities of the deceased persons are yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, the accident occurred at the Beldarichak market when the autorickshaw carrying seven people heading to a nearby temple was reportedly hit from behind.
According to police, the driver of the bus coming from the same direction lost control over the wheels and hit an autorickshaw from the back.
Following this, four persons including two women and a child died on the spot and three injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Police, Fire and Rescue Services personnel and local people had a tough time in carrying out the rescue operation as the mangled remains of the autorickshaw was lying almost beneath the bus.
Bodies of the victims have been shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased and their acquaintances gathered at the Beldarichak and blocked vehicular traffic, alleging that police set the accused free without taking action, sources said.
