Patna: A two-and-a-half-month-old baby girl's father, who earlier lodged a missing diary of his daughter has been accused of murdering her. The baby's body was recovered by the police from a container of Dalda vanaspati oil kept in the kitchen. The accused confessed to his crime during interrogation yesterday. He said he was forced to kill the ailing girl as he was unable to meet her medical expenses.
The accused, identified as Bharat sells eggs in Kajipur locality and also has a son. Bharat told police that he had killed his daughter by strangulating her and then lodged a police complaint after his wife questioned about the missing girl. An investigation was started, during which, police recovered the baby's body from the house itself.
While being interrogated by the Kadamkuan police, Bharat said that his daughter was born with a hole in her heart resulting which, she was ill most of the time. Bharat told police that he remained disturbed due to her daughter's treatment and had to sell of all jewellery to meet her medical expenses. Despite all efforts, there was no improvement in the infant's health condition, he said. In the meantime, his business too was not running well making it difficult for him to meet the domestic expenses, he further added.
Upset with his current situation, the man killed his infant daughter and then hid her body in the oil container on the night of April 26, police said. "I tried very hard to meet the medical expenses of my daughter but despite all efforts, she was not recovering. On the other hand, my business was also not going well. I have to look after a son as well. In such a situation I was extremely distressed and was forced to kill my daughter," Bharat said.

After killing his daughter, the accused pretended to be worried over the missing infant. When his wife kept asking about the girl, the accused went to the police station to lodge a missing diary. The victim's mother was not aware of the incident, police said.
It was further learnt that the accused had attempted to kill the infant seven days back. "Bharat had poured Fevicol into the girl's nostrils so as to stop her from breathing. The girl was saved at that time. Now, he strangulated her," Vimalendu, station in-charge at Kadamkuan said.
