Delhi court grants 4-day transit remand of MLA Anant Singh to Bihar police

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday granted two-day transit remand of Bihar Independent MLA from Mokama Anant Singh to Bihar Police. The court also directed that Singh should be produced before Bihar Court within 48 hours.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police produced Anant Singh in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Archana Beniwal and IPS officer Lipi Singh took Anant Singh on transit remand.

During the hearing, Singh's lawyer stated that his client is unwell and must be provided with medical assistance following which the court issued orders to Bihar police.

"An attempt will be made to take Anant Singh to Bihar on Saturday by flight so that he can be produced in the court," a police official said.

Anant Singh surrendered before New Delhi's Saket court on Friday from where he was sent to judicial custody in Tihar Jail.

Singh had been absconding since August 17 after a raid at his residence was conducted in which an AK-47, hand grenade and 26 rounds of live ammunition were recovered.

An FIR was lodged against him under the newly amended Unlawful Activities (Prevention) (UAPA) Act.

Earlier, the MLA had shared a video stating he will surrender before the court and not before Bihar Police. In the video, he also alleged that the arms and ammunition recovered from his residence were planted to conspire against him.
