Patna: The names of the Lok Sabha candidates have been declared from almost all the seats in Bihar, but the picture is not clear with cricketer-turned-politician Kirti Azad.
According to sources, Congress will field Kirti Azad, either from Valmiki city of Bihar or Dhanbad in Jharkhand.
Bihar Congress In charge Shaktisinh Gohil said, "Kirti is a good person, he is also my friend. Congress will field him and he will definitely win."
He, however, did not mention the seat from which Kirti will be contesting. Asked on whether Kirti will contest from Dhanbad instead of Darbhanga, Gohil said the final decision will be announced soon.
Gohil further said that the Lok Sabha election was near and the Grand Alliance was in a strong position in Bihar. "At the same time, the performance of the NDA government in the state is very poor," he claimed.
Kirti Azad is a very popular leader. His family has also been associated with Congress.Azad is the son of former Bihar Chief Minister Bhagwat Jha Azad.
He was an aggressive right-hand batsman and a quickish offspinner and had contributed to India's World Cup win in 1983.
