Bihar minister says over 33,000 received Covid jabs

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey informed that over 33,000 people have been vaccinated in the first two days of the inoculation drive in the state. He also claimed that the COVID situation was under control in the state.

New Delhi: Bihar Health Minister and senior BJP leader Mangal Pandey said that the COVID situation in the state is under control as the recovery rate has risen to 98 per cent.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Pandey said that over two crore people have so far been tested in the state. While the recovery rate is 98 per cent, the fatality rate stands at 0.55 per cent.

Pandey informed that 1,400 people have succumbed to the virus in the past ten months.

On the ongoing vaccination drive, Pandey said that on the first and second days, 60 and 50 per cent of the target was achieved.

He informed that over 33,000 people have been vaccinated in the first two days.

While rumours have been floating around with regards to the vaccine, Pandey said no adverse effect has so far been noticed.

The minister said that the number of vaccination centres will eventually be increased in Bihar, taking into account the around 12 crore population of the state.

Pandey said that all requirements for a successful vaccination drive have been taken care of, with over 10,600 health workers been trained for the process.

The minister added that the state possesses all the necessary equipment to maintain the cold chain, and is following all the guidelines set by the centre.
