Coronavirus knocks Bihar, Health Department issues advisory

A fresh case of suspected coronavirus has been reported in Bihar after which the patient was admitted to Chaapra Sadar Hospital. Bihar Health Department has issued a health advisory in connection with this newly infected virus which has killed 80 people in China.

Chapra(Bihar): A suspected case of coronavirus has been reported in Bihar, following which a 29-year-old patient has been kept in an isolated ward of Chaapra Sadar Hospital. She said a doctor, who returned to India after completing her studies in China on 22 January was later referred to PMCH Patna on suspicion of being affected by coronavirus.

Directions were given by Bihar Health Department to issue an advisory in this regard. The central government has issued advisories to all states following which the Health Department has sent to all the districts. The Health Department has issued instructions to all District Health and Family Welfare Officers and all government doctors to be vigilant in this matter.

The health department has specifically advised the airport authority to monitor passengers from Northeast Asia arriving at Gaya Airport. In this regard, Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar himself has spoken to the director of the airport as tourists come from China and its border countries to the tourist spots of Buddha Circuit.

Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar said that about 21 people have died due to coronavirus virus in China. Apart from this, around 800 people are vulnerable to this newly infected disease. Kumar says that due to this virus, no one needs to be nervous or upset but just need to be cautious.

What is coronavirus?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the coronavirus is a zoonotic (COV) which is believed to be spread by eating seafood. Being contagious in nature, the virus is now spreading from humans to humans. Being in contact with the infected person, shaking hands, sneezing, touching can cause virus infection. Some of its common symptoms include running nose, cough, sore throat, occasional headache and fever, which may last for a few days. It is fatal for people with weak immunity. However, pneumonia, swelling in the lungs, sneezing, worsening of asthma are also a few of its symptoms.

Two patients infected with coronavirus were recently reported from Mumbai. Earlier too there were cases of viruses coming from other countries to India. However, the people of Bihar should not be worried about coronavirus. Only two cases have been highlighted in the whole country and that too patients are absolutely healthy.
