New Delhi: In a bid to give impetus to the development of the food processing sector, the Central Government has decided to set up a mega food park in Bihar, informed senior BJP leader and state Industry Minister, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain on Monday.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that this mega food park will be set up in Muzaffarpur's Motipur with an investment of Rs 400 crores.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Minister Hussain thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Narendra Singh Tomar for such an initiative.
"It will leverage an additional investment of about Rs. 109 Crore in 30 food processing units in the park and would eventually lead to a turnover of about Rs. 400 Crore annually. The Park will also provide direct and indirect employment to 5,000 persons and benefit farmers in those areas," Hussain said.
"Government of India is constantly striving to make Bihar the world’s food factory. I have informed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar regarding such initiative and he also expressed happiness for this," Hussain added.
Under the Mega Food Park Scheme, the Central government has decided to open a total of 44 mega food parks across the country. Out of 44, 42 mega food parks in different states have been approved to set up by the Central Government.
Notably, two more food parks were yet to be approved, one of which is going to open in Bihar.
