West Champaran: The flood situation in Bihar has worsened drastically on Tuesday as animals from the Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) were forced to take shelter in the residential areas of the village after the reserve was flooded due to rain.
A giant python swallowed five chicks after entering Shambhu Singh's cattle shed in Bagicha Tola that falls under Valmiki Nagar.
Following which, the villagers informed the forest department who caught the python and released it in the forests of VTR. However, forest officials said that the villagers will get compensation for their loss.
Similarly, a crocodile made two lambs its prey after entering the cattle shed in Naraipur village of Bagaha. Two people were also injured in this attack.
The dense forest of Valmiki Tiger Reserve has flooded following incessant rain due to which wild predatory animals like leopards, bears even venomous snakes kept coming to the residential areas adjacent to the VTR Forest Division-2.
Valmiki Tiger Reserve is spread over 899 square kilometres in West Champaran district, bordering Nepal to its north and Uttar Pradesh to its west.
