Bihar floods: Embankment on Tilawe river in Motihari damaged

With the flood situation worsening in Bihar, the embankment built on the Tilawe river was damaged in Motihari in Bihar's East Champaran district. The embankment was damaged due to the increasing water level and heavy pressure.

Motihari: The embankment built on the Tilawe river was damaged in Motihari in Bihar's East Champaran district due to the increasing water level and heavy pressure on Friday.

Reportedly, the embankment for the dam was damaged near Chithan village of Phulwar Dakshin Panchayat, resulting in flooding of the nearby areas.

The damaged embankment at Motihari has also started to flood SH-74.

Officials reached the spot and took stock of the situation. They are also taking measures to bring people to safer places.

Meanwhile, the flood situation in Bihar worsened on Thursday with over 7.65 lakh people being affected across 10 districts.

However, there was no loss of life reported so far.

Thirteen NDRF teams and eight SDRF teams have been engaged in rescuing people and 36,448 people have been evacuated from the flood-hit areas.
